hmmm... it's not like i didn't have any access to a computer during our fantastic trip to the uk/france, but i didn't seem to have the inclination to write anything. i was definitely in full holiday mode! fortunately i made toby and aly both wrote a journal each day and toby has agreed to read the highlights to me so here goes:

  • north wales to visit my mum at work, eat an indian buffet and go ice skating [toby went to an open hockey practice too]
  • london to have cheesy bus and boat tour [on which i learnt lots of stuff and we ran into a cyclist who was fine but a little peeved from what i can gather], see helen and go on the london eye with kellie
  • liverpool to visit the world museum, liverpool anglican cathedral and maritime museum
  • wirral ellesmere port boat museum and cheshire oaks outlet, various golfing activities, christmas parties, visit with santa and a talking christmas tree in a garden centre!, pantomime in port sunlight, scooter riding, park visits and fish and chips, ice cream, dad's 60th birthday party in parkgate, spaceport and a movie theatre to see happy feet in birkenhead with aunty di, mini monsters house with ana, heather and michael [also went to a loud, but great, children's party at their house], arrowe park to take a choking sascha to hospital [various poke-around-in-his-throat tests to follow - possibly a hiatus hernia]
  • chester for an open top bus tour [chilly but very interesting], chester cathedral, roman amphitheatre site and visitors centre, and tons of christmas shopping in the most beautiful shops in the world
  • oxfordshire to visit sascha's uncle mike and family, walked and shopped around oxford, [also a trip to get the punctured tire repaired on the way home
  • deepest darkest buckinghamshire to see dave, octavia and iona [their very cute and sleepy 3 month old]
  • berkshire to see sara, jim, matthew and sophie
  • paris, france to see the eeifel tower, a boat trip down the seine and spend a couple of days at disneyland, including rides on a double decker train and the eurostar.

and now for some photos which sascha kindly webified for me while we were there...

any hoo.. we're now back home after a wonderful journey [as far as 10.5hr journey's go]. the children were great [even better since i was sitting across the aisle from them!] and we got away without being charged the $160 we owed in excess baggage [and we still had to leave various presents at my mum and dad's house]. i worked yesterday but now we have the next 4 days to ourselves before real life catches up with us. colin and nikki are coming back from their christmas in hawaii with pete and dani on the 1st - hopefully ready to do christmas all over again with us!

back home
