july 25
well, the vacation is over, my parents are back in england and sascha and i are back at work. it was a fantastic vacation - despite a bit of a norwalk virus issue at the end [for sascha, toby, aly and my dad who all ended up in the ship's hospital].

disney magic
everyone's highlights were as follows:
toby: playing golf, wii etc. in one of the bars, a private tour of the mooring room by the cruise director, seeing WallE
peta: swimming with dolphins, playing shuffleboard with donald and eating at the fantastic adult-only restaurant, palo
sascha: palo, sailing, watching aly with the characters, the ship itself
aly: the characters, seeing WallE, the parties

a very happy little girl

i love the fact that it was possible to just come across characters on the ship, the shows were amazing [even though i'm not usually a big show person], the restaurants were very cool - especially the animator's palette which transformed from a black and white restaurant to a full colour restaurant over the course of the meal, and the adult-only section of the ship was great. amazingly we could have had the children in children's programs from 9am until 1am every day if we had wanted to [we didn't!].

5 days to LA and counting. we're planning an evening at downtown disney, a day in ventura, a day at legoland, a day at disney, and a morning at the queen mary before boarding our disney cruise to mexico. it's a 7-night cruise with stops at cabo san lucas, mazatlan and puerto vallarta. my mum and dad are both now here in vancouver ready for the trip and i'm counting down the hours. we have a busy weekend planned, so hopefully that will take our minds off it. of course, one of the things we've got planned is a visit to science world to see the 'music behind the magic' disney exhibit which should be a good warmup for the whole thing.
