burnaby village museum
we're visitor-less for the first time since january. the house seems very quiet all of a sudden. we managed to pack a lot in to a great week with kellie and mike. we went to the burnaby village museum for the first time in a couple of years and enjoyed it a lot despite the rain. we need to go back again when we have more than an hour or 2 to spare. we ate out an astounding number of times and even managed to win some money at the starlight casino down the road.

so aly is now officially in double digits - she turned 10 on saturday. she had a build-a-bear workshop party which was probably the least stressful party we've ever done.

mum and dad went back to the uk on saturday - only slightly delayed by having to fly around the ash cloud. kellie and mike will hopefully not be delayed by said ash cloud because i'm practically taking kellie to see a beach boys concert from the airport!

we had a great weekend exploring richmond during the doors open event. we managed to visit a labyrinth, make some aboriginal art, see some sculptures, have afternoon tea at london heritage farm, go to a winnery, climb the rescue tower at a firehall, visit the britannia shipyards, the cannery, see the interurban tram and 90 antique cars. who knew there was so much to do in our own backyard [which i believe is the point of the event!] all that in addition to helping dad paint half the house.

mum and dad leave this weekend after 7 lovely weeks. we're really going to miss them [and not just because we'll have to start doing our own laundry, cleaning, cooking, decorating and repairs]. fortunately, my sister, kellie and mike arrive a week later so we won't be lonely for too long.
