children's halloween party all done. ready for halloween tomorrow. my dear friend connie very kindly offered to help me with our halloween party but is even more over-the-top than i am so we put in WAY too much time preparing for the party [which seems to have been a big success fortunately]. i don't have any photos from during the party but i'm expecting wonderful pictures from my friend, lara :) aly's halloween social life is very hectic. she's out at parties from 1.30-7pm today!

mum and dad went back to the uk at the end of last week and are hopefully in florida by now having a wonderful time with the rest of the family. it was lovely to see them, but it's going to feel like a long 6 months before we see them again. [aly and i are planning a trip in march for my cousin benjamin's wedding.]
toby, dani and i passed our boating exams on monday. i was amazed how well toby sat and patiently listed to 3 hours of instruction and then took his exam. he was the only child there and i have to say i was a little worried on the way in!
my endless cough [7 weeks and counting] is finally getting better. after spending weeks increasing my inhaler dosage, i finally switched to a different kind which seems to be helping. i'm getting more sleep and have less trouble managing phone conversations without scaring people on the other end of the line!

happy thanksgiving canadians! we had another busy weekend. we headed to the richmond country farms pumpkin patch on sunday [which was fun but VERY muddy], had thanksgiving dinner and then carved one of our 6 pumpkins!
on monday we did our quickest trip ever to victoria: we left on the 11am ferry and almost made the 5pm after eating a thanksgiving dinner with dani, colin and nikki at smitty's. when we headed back to vancouver, we shipped mum and dad off to poet's cove on pender island [their ruby anniversary present from us].
zoe was horrified this week to find out that grandad was apparently wearing daddy's pants [jeans - which i guess means that either sascha wears them to often, or my dad not enough!]. her exclamation went like this: why grandad wearing daddy pants? take them off. give back to daddy grandad.

look at all that hair!
this weekend was quite the weekend - friday was my birthday and then saturday was my mum and dad's ruby wedding anniversary. for my birthday, i opted for a day at home scrapbooking, scrabbling and eating homemade wheat-free/dairy-free lasagne [thanks mom], frozen yoghurt from marble slab creamery and enjoying my iphone 4. we celebrated mum and dad's anniversary with a couple of lovely meals - one at the blue canoe in steveston [where we also checked out the scarecrow festival] and the second at moxie's.
40 years!
that ice cream is bigger than her head!

my biggest baby is old enough to be a crossing guard now she's in grade 5 and she was quick to volunteer. toby told her she was crazy because she would have to stand out there in the rain and cold and she said 'sure, i know that, but you know.. i'm doing stuff for my community.' she's a good girl.
