the may day weekend saw the 60th, and last, of the great parades to commemorate the battle of the atlantic. di, stewart and my mum and dad were away in florida but nanny had desperately wanted to see it since my grandad's love of the sea had been passed on to her. after her having 2 failed bus trips to see it [due to overcrowding] we took her on sunday afternoon. most of the ships had left [or at least docked - we took a few sneaky glimpses through fences at them] but this one was left. it was a beautiful day and we had a lovely late-afternoon walk together along the sea front.
